The Premier League delivered major surprises yesterday as top sides struggled and the title race tightened dramatically.

Liverpool suffered a shocking 3–0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest, extending their poor run of form this season. The result marks their sixth league loss, leaving them sitting around 11th place on the table. Manager Arne Slot openly admitted the performance was “very bad” and fully accepted responsibility for the team’s struggles.

At St James’ Park, Newcastle United stunned Manchester City with a 2–1 victory. Harvey Barnes was the star of the night, scoring two quick goals within seven minutes to turn the game around. Though Ruben Dias pulled one back for City, Barnes’ second goal was confirmed after a VAR check, securing all three points for Newcastle and dealing a blow to City’s title chase.

The results also reshaped the standings. Chelsea climbed into second place after a solid 2–0 win over Burnley, while Crystal Palace continued their impressive season by defeating Wolves 2–0 to move up to fourth place. Brighton overturned a deficit to beat Brentford 2–1, and Fulham claimed a late 1–0 victory against Sunderland courtesy of Raul Jimenez. Bournemouth also fought back to secure a 2–2 draw with West Ham.

With both Liverpool and Manchester City dropping points, Arsenal who did not play gained a major advantage in the title race, tightening their control at the top of the table.
