Premier League: Arsenal Cruise, Liverpool’s Late Drama, Chelsea and City Make Headlines

The Premier League returned with plenty of drama, decisive victories, and off-field controversies as clubs across England made headlines this week.

Arsenal Brush Aside Nottingham Forest
Arsenal continued their strong form with a commanding 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest. Martin Zubimendi was the star of the show, netting twice  first with a superb volley and then a powerful header while Viktor Gyokeres capitalized on a defensive lapse to add the third. Despite missing captain Martin Odegaard and other key players, the Gunners showed their depth and intent to remain title contenders.

Liverpool’s New Habit: Late Winners
Liverpool maintained their perfect record in dramatic fashion, beating Burnley 1-0 thanks to a Mohamed Salah penalty in the 95th minute. This was their fourth consecutive win sealed in stoppage time, setting a new Premier League record. Jurgen Klopp praised his side’s mentality but admitted their reliance on late goals is “a habit we don’t want to overuse.”

Chelsea Invest in the Future
Chelsea have secured a deal to sign Dutch striker Emanuel Emegha from Strasbourg, though he will join the squad in 2026. The 21-year-old impressed in Ligue 1 last season, scoring 14 goals and providing 3 assists, and is seen as a long-term reinforcement for the Blues’ frontline.

Liverpool Bolster Defence with Guehi
In addition to their attacking flair, Liverpool are strengthening at the back. The Reds have agreed a £35 million deal to sign defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. The England international is undergoing medicals and is expected to add stability to Klopp’s defensive unit.

Manchester City Settle Sponsorship Row
Manchester City have dropped their legal dispute with the Premier League over sponsorship rules. The club accepted the validity of the current Associated Party Transaction (APT) regulations, which govern deals with companies linked to owners. While this closes one chapter, City remain under investigation for other financial matters.

West Ham Manager Under Fire
West Ham manager Graham Potter faces mounting pressure after a poor start to the campaign. Reports suggest the club is already lining up former boss Slaven Bilic as a potential replacement should results fail to improve in the coming weeks.

Burnley Sue Everton Over Relegation
Off the pitch, Burnley have filed a legal claim against Everton, alleging that Everton’s breach of Profit & Sustainability Rules in the 2021-22 season unfairly contributed to their relegation. Burnley are seeking compensation that could reach £60 million, adding more tension to ongoing PSR disputes in English football.

A Season of High Stakes
With Arsenal and Liverpool showing early promise, Chelsea and City making strategic moves, and legal and managerial battles unfolding, the Premier League continues to deliver both on and off the pitch. Fans can expect even more drama as the season progresses.
