Kano Pillars Coaching Shake-Up Dominates NPFL Headlines | MirrorLog

Date: 18 November 2025
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) witnessed major off-field drama yesterday as Kano Pillars FC suspended their Technical Adviser Ogenyi Evans and Chief Coach Ahmed Garba following a poor run of form in the 2025/26 season.

According to club reports, the team’s performance 2 wins, 2 draws, and 4 losses in their opening eight matches did not meet management expectations. The decision to suspend the duo comes amid increasing pressure from fans and club executives.

In response, the club appointed former captain Gambo Muhammad to lead the team in an interim capacity, supported by Goalkeeping Coach Suleiman Shuaibu and Junior Pillars coach Garzali Muhammad.

This suspension follows significant disciplinary actions by the NPFL board, which recently imposed a ₦9.5 million fine, a three-point deduction, and ordered the club to play 10 home matches behind closed doors due to misconduct and crowd-related infractions.

Meanwhile, the NPFL has reaffirmed the season schedule, with the 2025/26 campaign running from 22 August 2025 to 24 May 2026, ensuring stability and alignment with the global football calendar.
