Former Liverpool player, Danny Murphy has named Brighton & Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi as the βperfectβ manager to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield should the German eventually leave the club in the future.
Klopp has been at Liverpool since 2015 and has carved out a niche for himself, transforming the Redsβ fortunes.
The 56-year-old led Liverpool to win their first league title in the Premier League era, the UEFA Champions League and all other domestic titles on offer.
He has managed Liverpool in 435 games across competitions, winning 268 and losing only 77.
Kloppβs current contract with Liverpool will expire in 2026.
However, Murphy reckons Liverpool should go for De Zerbi because he plays great football.
βI think De Zerbi is perfect. He will be ready then,β Murphy said
βI have been thinking about it for probably the last 60 seconds and that is what I have come up with.
βHe plays great football. He looks a strong character. He is learning his trade in this league with Brighton and doing it superbly well.β
He continued, βAnd if Jurgen [Klopp], which he is not, for some bizarre reason was to decide that was a good option for him, then I donβt see a better candidate.
βThings change in football really quickly. So, the flavour of the month might be somebody else this time next year. But I think he is the real deal, there is something about him.β
